Which mumbaiikar doesn’t like to relish on an hot spicy vadapav? Vadapav has been the staple snack of mumbaiikars for ages now. There are many places in and around Mumbai, which serve this favourite snack. In this post I will tell you about the best Vadapav outlet in Mumbai.

Kirti Vadapav

Introduction:

It’s highly likely that you might not have heard the name. The outlet goes by the name of it’s founder ‘Ashok’. The name recently changed to ‘Kirti Vadapav Centre’ though it has no tie-up’s with the adjoining Kirti College. It is located in a bylane off Cadell road which leads to Kirti College. The stall rests on a footpath & can be spotted with ease due to the fact it being overcrowded most of the times.

How to reach?

To reach Kirti Vadapav, one has to step down at Dadar station (western side) & then proceed towards Portuguese Church from Kabootar Khana. From Portuguese Church, hit straight in the opposite lane which opens up at Cadell road. From there simply cross the road & you will reach Kirti Vadapav Centre.

Cost & Variety:

At Kirti Vadapav Centre most people come to bite on their very famous Vadapav. Besides Vadapav, you have Samosapav & Churapav on offer. The Churapav can be had as an starter or for a quick bite. The Vadapav costs Rs.9 & the Churapav is for Rs.6. I recommend you to first bite on the Vadapav, the churapav is only if you have only a small space in your tummy. You can ignore the Samosapav since you won’t be getting it as they are prepared far less in no due to low demand.

Ingredients:

The Vadapav is served hot with a combination of three chutneys. The chutneys provide a zing to the Vadapav & they are the best I have ever tasted anywhere in my Life. There is also chura (Besan crispies) stuffed in the vadapav which is a treat to the tastebuds. You also have the salted chillies to bite on along with the Vadapav.

Pros of Kirti Vadapav:

1) Best Vadapav – Has bagged many prices including the best Vadapav in Mumbai by a survey conducted by Times of India.

2) The chutneys are of fine quality & you will love them.

3) Is big enough to satisfy your hunger. Two of them together & it can very well substitute your meal.

Cons of Kirti Vadapav:

1) Very costly at Rs.9 (I have being eating this vadapav since it was Rs.6).

2) No seating arrangements. You will have to go to the adjoining beach or stand and have the Kirti Vadapav. Beware of crows :P

3) Most of the times, the stall is crowded with vadapav fanatics, students from the adjoining college & also staff from the nearby offices. You can very well left standing for 20 minutes or so before you get your order. Though your patience are paid off with a satisfying hot spicy vadapav.

4) Kirti Vadapav Centre is closed on Sundays (You cannot grab it while returning from beach on Sunday).

In a Nutshell:

Being a Vadapav fanatic, I have tried vadapav from almost most of the stalls/shops in Mumbai but it can’t get better than this. Kirti Vadapav is the best I ever had in my Life till date & I make it a point to grab it whenever I feel the need for one. If you are a Vadapav fanatic like me then you should definitely munch on Kirti Vadapav & if you are not still you should get one. I guarantee you that you will not eat just one.
