Six Tips for Monsoon Photography
Rainy season presents a wonderful opportunity for photography. Not only the weather is cool but also enjoyable for most. With the rainy season over us, the time is apt to go on a shooting adventure. Before you go out here are some tips to make your photo session under rain enjoyable & worthwhile.

1) Having protection is of prime importance before you even take out your camera to take that snap. Water is a bad enemy of your camera. Even a drop is enough to make your camera go kaput. Make sure you have the required gear like umbrella, wind cheaters, waterproof camera bag etc before going out in the rains. It doesn’t matter even if you carry a cheap plastic bag to protect your prosumer grade camera. Just make sure all the gear is in good condition & you are ready to rock.
2) Its good to have a friend to accompany you for shooting. Not only will you enjoy photography more but also can take his aid in case of emergency. Today I was shooting & for taking a particular shot I had to ask my friend to hold an umbrella for me. Not to mention, your friend may hint you the peculiar angle to frame your shot which may be rewarding in the end. Two minds are better than one holds true here.
3) A little carefulness on the part of the photographer is absolute must. You don’t want to get engrossed composing your shot so much that you forget that you about the car speeding in front of yours splashing water from puddle over you. This may sound silly but it happens when you are over enthusiastic.
4) Rainy season conveys a slow & soft mood. This mood doesn’t gets highlighted much when pictures are taken under colour. For best results experiment with Black/White & Sepia mode. If you forget to shoot under B/W or Sepia you can always post process the pics to get the desired effect. Some of the most beautiful pics I have seen under rain are shot in B/W or Sepia mood.
5) Don’t worry if you do miss to take the perfect shot. You can always try out some other time since the rainy season won’t get over anytime soon.
6) Last but not least – Enjoy. Beautiful photographs will come only if you enjoy your photography.
